I can see how the second idea might work, but I don't see what hitting 
it with a hammer and chisel would accomplish. Are you suggesting I cut 
the bolt head off? or what?

Seems to me that the odds are definitely against you in this job.. 23 of 
24 bolts turned with almost no problems. The 24th just had to round out. 
Would it be a good idea to replace  all the screws with new ones when I 
when I put it all back together?
