Those flashers had a few "quirks." My 68 clicked every time I hit the brake pedal. Eventually I fixed this by resoldering a bad connection, I think. Or maybe it was just a bad capacitor that I never fixed.... I think it's all related to voltage transients in the 12V power, which this design is sensitive to. I don't think they all did this, nor did they do it when new. Russ may remember something about these, too. > Now, one of the few things I know about the fuel injection system is > that the fuel pump relay, which I understand is under the dash, is > supposed to click when you turn the key on (it gets mentioned on this > list about twice a day), thus, if anyone is trying to debug a '69-70 FI > system, make sure you're hearing the right relay click, especially if > you hear it click once, and then not again. It's been a long time, but I think the flasher click might be a quick double- click, and it's probably a softer click than the FI relay. > I'm sure Jim or someone will correct me if I've got the details wrong. Nope, it's a good point, and I hadn't thought of it. And now we've managed, once again, to mention the FI double relay clicks twice today. ;-) -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
