I have three friends that will coach me in this Get the Bentley manual. Yes, the cover says it's for later cars, but a lot of the mechanicals will be the same for your earlier car. The Haynes is also pretty good for a lot of things, including the fuel system for your early car. These are both still in print. Another pretty good reference would be "Volkswagen 1500 & 1600 Technical Manual" by Henry Elfrink. It's out of print, but you might find one on eBay or at a used book store. Has an orange cover. -Mark Fuhriman ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
