Anyhow, I've got a 1970 > (manufactured: March 1970), electronic fuel injection, and so far as I am > aware a stock dist. In this case your timing notches should look like this: | | | | . The leftmost mark is TDC. Set the leftmost mark straight up and check the valves for #1. If one of them is depressed turn the engine over another full turn. Now your engine is set to #1 TDC. Ignore the stamped mark on the dist. Whichever dist cap tower the rotor is now pointing to should be wired to #1. Continuing on in the CW direction around the dist cap wire the rest of the wires to SPs 4-3-2. Static time your engine. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
