Hey, thanks for all the quick replies from everyone and Jim's FAQ. I'll be going with the fluid change and changing out the center brake line as well. The master cylinder was *very* nasty and will require loads of flushing and scrubbing to make it good again. I realized last night that it doesn't look anything like the one shown in my Haynes, must be the difference between USA and Euro specs. It's an ATE (afternmarket, maybe?), but has only one switch port, no second piston underneath it (residual pressure?) and has a brass plug/screw opposite the rear brake port. My rebuild kit looks to fit exactly so that's not a problem, I'll be investigating the whole new world of Silicone (brake fluid, that is) this weekend. Thanks again, you all make this Type III experience a lot easier to cope with, and I owe everyone on the list credit for getting the old girl back on the road. David Walters '73 1600 L Notchback S.
