Other than that it was > straight forward. The bulbous thing is a reservoir for spare fluid, so some can leak out and you'll still have a "full" damper. There should be a washer under the damper. The damper should be mounted via its rubber bushing so if it touches the axle beam you lose the isolation. I don't remember this being a close thing.
