I have a couple of disassembled 32 PHN-1 carbs around here somewhere -- 
I'll look for them this weekend to see if there's a needle valve I can 
spare.

Also, I checked my VW workshop manual and there's a page of suggestions 
for eliminating flat spots on the 32 PHN-1. From your posts it sounds 
like you've already got the accelerator pump adjustment figured out, 
but if it would be of any use to you I could send a copy.
