> Has anyone on the list done any repairs to rusting bulkhead? > around the fresh air intake in the front of a 71 notch or other T3. Yes, I've cut out a window in the plenum chamber, cleaned out the mess and repaired the flange that stops water pouring down into the air-box, then repaired the piece cut out and put some spots of weld between the two parts to hold it in place - filler paste in the rest of the slot means I can do it again when needed. It wouldn't be a very frequently-needed job; I don't mind too much if I have to take it off again in 10 years. I used a broad hacksaw blade with a rag wrapped around it so I could cut a thin slot over the top, and a cutting disc to go onto the bulkhead spot-welds. I would avoid the flange another time as there is a rubber seal slightly above the spot welds there that gets damaged. Many have suggested a removeable cover - it's another solution to an occasional maintenance job, and not too hard to do. It's a pity the factory didn't do a proper job! Dave.
