Hey Leon, tell me more about your engine blowing oil through the generator. I got the same problem and I cant for the life of me figure out whats causing it or where the leak is coming from. I also went through 2 generators in 4 mo. and I also think the oil blowing thru it had something to do with it. I am going crazy trying to stop this oil leak/blow. what was the cause in your case? hisham **************************************************************************** **** It was a hole in mt # 3 piston . The massive blowby of gasses pressurized the case and the pressure would blow oil out the front shaft and into the fan assembly and the fan assembly blew the oil into the generator, I do not know if this caused the generator to die but I do not think it is a coincidence. Check yout blowby pressure by disconnecting the hose that comes from your oil breather (the one with the plastic cap) to the air cleaner, best disconnect it from the air cleaner side . Observe the smoke and air pressure that comes from there. Make sure that this hose is not plugged or kinked , that can cause the case to pressurize. When you observe the hose in idle , do you see a good stream of smoke or noticeable pressure out of it ? How about when you accelerate the engine's speed ? If the stream looks bigger than a little puff you may have serious engine trouble like broken or stuck piston rings, your engine may not show evidence of burning oil at the plugs but if it gets worse it will . If rings are stuck , some additives like Mystery Oil and other high dtergent products can unstuck the rings but if damage or too much wear is present then you need to change some parts. Note: If you do not have an oil filter , high detergent additives may cause more harm than good because the detergent will remove hard chunks of internal case goop/carbon and circulate it throughout the bearing areas, you will get more wear.
