Yeah, I've only been on the train in Chicago...
You know, I never did get the hang of highway merging in
Michigan. Never. Too fast, too slow, trying to let people on,
trying to beat people... I just could never "jive" with what other
drivers were expecting...
Hey, I've been running a '70-'71 Type III "A-B" injected
dizzy as mech. advance only in the Beetle with the dual kads. Seems
to be a lil' smoother than the 009. I just picked up a '68-'69 Type
III dizzy, an "L", which advances a little bit more quickly than the
A-B. I'm gonna try that out to see how it does. I just time to max
advance at like 28-30 degrees or so at the pulley.
The kads really do want to rev higher than the 34pict3 I had
on there. I was shifting way too soon going from 3rd to 4th, and it
felt sluggish. It's been a coupla weeks since I drove it, but I
believe that it was coming into its own if I would take it up to
about 65 in 3rd. (This is with the low-geared tranny that came stock
with the 1200cc 40horse engine.) It was happy to cruise up at 80 in
4th... though I don't like driving a Beetle much over 80, at least
with fairly stock suspension/rubber/brakes/etc...
