Okay, I don't think it would be hard to weld back together, I'd TIG weld it just because that's really controllable in thin section metal. I think it will be hard to cut apart, however, because your cut will have to be symmetrical so that the parts will fit well after you rotate them. I doubt if you'd have any luck trying to just split it at the seam; you'll probably have to cut it just above the seam.
