Good, then you torqued the grub screw to spec when you put it back again, 
right?

Yes, I believe so.

I think the sealing rings will kind of wedge themselves in there and put the 
arms out if you give them the chance. I THINK I remember something about 
slipping those rings out of the way while you make this adjustment. You don't 
want them confusing the issue.

It's really a fair amount of work, so I really don't recommend it. Plus there 
is always the chance of breaking something else that would otherwise have 
worked fine for another 100k miles.
