Since the type3 engine shares many of its internal parts with a type1 (bug) 
engine most engine builders install the dizzy drive in the type1 position (they 
are used to building type1 motors). In this case the drive slot is parallel 
to the fan pulley, or 90* from the case split. A type3 is supposed to be 
installed with the dizzy drive 60* from the case split to allow clearance for the 
vacuum unit to clear the generator and cooling tin. This is a very common 
mistake, but if not corrected it can lead to tune up trouble for the next owner who 
doesn't know that there is a difference in the drives position.  I hope this 
clears this up a little, and helps you understand the differences.
