Why not?

Porsche:  911, 914, 924, 944, 959

BMW: 3, 5, 7

Volvo :  P1800 (ok, that's got a letter)

When numbers are used in a fashion that confuses a reader as to if 
the writer is the originator (in this case VW), it's a copyright 
issue and therefore subject for lawsuit.
