I think the pressure rating would apply if you were driving it around... -kevin guarnotta '65 kombi '71 sqbk somerville, ma -----Original Message----- From: Matthew Willis [mailto:mattwillis@mac.com] Sent: Thursday, July 31, 2003 9:34 PM To: type3@vwtype3.org Subject: [T3] Tires for my squareback In debugging my windshield washer, I found that my spare tire was a bit on the crumbly side. I'm looking to replace the ancient bias tire, but I had a few questions before I did so. My 165R15 radials on the car have a max inflation of 32psi. So does Mr. Crusty Spare. Since I need to pump the tire up to like 38 or 40psi to get the washer valve to work, isn't exceeding the tire's max a very bad thing? If so, does anyone know of particular brands and models of tires available in 165R15 that have a higher max inflation rating? Since I'm forced to special order this size tire anyway, I'd like to get one that isn't getting overinflated constantly if I can help it.
