I'm one of those who doesn't swear by WD-40, but it's clear that there is SOME substance to the results that some people get from it. I suspect that the results are more from the fact that the WD-40 flushed out all the dirt than the fact that it left anything behind which might help lubricate. I have a friend who is into old clocks and he tells me that it is very important to clean out the bearings. Not only do they accumulate dirt, but they also collect wear particles from the bearings and pivots. Both cause friction and accelerated wear. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
