Well, contrary to your advice I did have another look at it today, because after you said you can't overfill it I wanted to take another look. I have finally found a convenient way to get to the damn thing. Here it is: Take of the left rear wheel Put all your extensions together till you have one about a yard long. Unscrew the plug easily, pushing down on your long handle from _outside_ the car. That way you also get easy access to the fill hole itself without lying on your back under the car. There's something weird about either me or the oil: when I stick my finger in the hole, I can't feel the oil, but it comes out covered in it. I'm now satisfied that there is enough in there and will not touch it again. Screw the plug back in comfort from outside the car. One thing. It looks like my fill plug has taken a bit of abuse over the years, like it might round out one day. It's OK now but I don't know how long it will stay that way.. Does anyone have a spare one? This is a long term request, because hopefully I won't need to open it for a good few months now.
