I just apply a single coat to the door and let it dry a tiny bit, and then slip the gasket into place. Since it has to slide in there to fit right, it really doesn't work right if you follow the directions. If you got them in the right position they will eventually get easier, but keep in mind that they are expected to SEAL, so this requires some pressure.
