I say directly from the battery because fuse 9 provides power without having the key in the ignition. The power to the sterro is NOT directly connected to the battery.

I'm confused. Which are you doing, via fues 9 or direct from the battery?
Neither should be a problem, but whichever you do you have to make sure that
you have good connections. This means doing them carefully, which is much more
important than using fancy gold plated connectors. ;-)
