well my clutch is slipping sometimes-at least I think that is what it is...so I am planning on replacing the clutch, for which I need to pull the engine. the symptoms I am having that have led me to believe that the clutch is slipping-sometimes upon acceleration-the engine seems to race a little, and the car to not accelerate accordingly...kind of like if you were in neutral and pushing the gas pedal. then it will grab eventually. but not in a jerky motion... I have pulled an engine on a '65 bus and a '71 bus. so I have some experience...but the T3 setup w/fuel injection looks quite different. Referring to the Bentley manual-there is some reference to 'mount spacers'. It appears as thoug these are on all double jointed axles-which mine is. Bentley says to always use new plastic spacers. Is this correct? Can you still get these? At the same time I am planning on redoing the exhaust gaskets & installing a refurbished distributor(a la jim adney) as well as a new throw out bearing. any suggestions on things that bentley leaves out...things to do at the same time...suggestions taht this may not be the clutch? thanks -kevin somerville, ma '65 kombi '71 sqbk ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
