Re: [T3] Speaker Mystery

<x-flowed>I checked all my speaker connections and everything is fine.
I am going to the JVC service center to have my stereo replaced, it must be damaged.

My concern is: could my electrical setup in the car be causing the stereo to be damaged.

I am running power from fuse 9, and it does have an inline fuse. Fuse 9 is also powering the accessory cigarette lighter, which is grounded to the bottom of the glove box.

Could going directly to the battery, rather than accessory, cause this in any way?

Thank you,

Gary Gamboa

I'm using an self-contained speaker box, no mounting. I'm using this until I can figure out a permanent mount that will not alter the car. I'll check out the fuse idea. Thanks.

Hi. If the speaker connections are touching metal they will not work. I've
had this happen when the speakers were mounted in a sheet metal hole. They
worked great for awhile, but one shifted down slightly and grounded and then
no sound. If you put them in the door, the contacts maybe be touching the
outside door metal. I would try the stereo with the speakers connected, but
unmounted, and see if they work. If that's no good, check to see if there
is a fuse on your deck. It could blow and take out the amplifier portion
without affecting the rest of the unit. Also, blown speakers should be
fairly obvious visually. However, I doubt that you would have blown them
all at the same time.

I hope that helps. Strangely enough, I put my stereo in today as well (no
problems so far...).

Adam
