The port on the type 3 oil cooler is really the perfect place for this, as this is the outlet side of the cooler and the oil from here goes right to work in the engine. We just need to find someone who makes a temp gauge with a long probe that will reach down into the oil and do its thing. With the "normal" setup, it strikes me as possible that the temp probe might just be surrounded by a bubble of air which has been compressed above the oil. There's no way for this air to get bled out of there and any air bubbles would always accumulate there. Just another reason to wish for a long temp probe. A pressure gauge, OTOH, doesn't care whether there is air in there or not. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
