That bakelite insulator will have to be replaced. I have good ones, or you can
buy a cheap wire set and use it for parts.

The OE Bosch elbows are great because they are right angle and they screw into
the wires, so it is easy to replace just the wire, which is the part that gets
old and hard and cracked. The new elbows are crimped on and require that you
get new ones each time you replace the wire. I buy wire in 50ft rolls and just
replace the wire for MUCH less cost than even an el cheapo wireset.

In general, the only parts that you should have to replace are the wire when it
gets hard, SP connectors when the resistors go open, and rubber seals when they
get hard. Most of these parts will last forever if the cooling system is
working, but some can get baked stiff if they get too hot too often.

See, I told you it wouldn't be hard. ;-)

Use a long screwdriver, blunt end in one ear, to track down the noise.

Sounds like it may not be the problem, but still worth checking someday.

Thanks from all of us for helping Lori.
