The second spring comes into play in the upper RPM range. This is the way they
are supposed to be. You can see the advance curves in the Bentley manual, which
you will want to purchase.

I just smear some light moly grease on the pivot and contact points.

The most reliable setup would be the 67 dual Solex carb setup. Be sure to get
EVERYTHING, including the air cleaner and the throttle linkage. Some of these
parts will be hard to find. Going to aftermarket carbs is another possibility
and there are as many opinions about those as there are carbs. There will also
be a long "learning curve" as you work thru the jetting to get everything
actually running right.

If you go this route you will also need to buy this manual, since the Bentley
does not cover carbs.

You won't be able to use the FI pump unless you put a pressure regulator on it.
A simple mechanical pump is the easiest. If you go with any kind of electrical
pump you will want to install an impact switch which will shut the pump down in
case of an accident. The FI had such a system, but it's gone now.
