Hi Neil, thats my suspicion- I wish I had measured things when I had the engine out. Is there any way to tell without stripping things down and measuring? > this will give all the symtoms it is doing trying to run larger volume > cylinders on the allready resrictive 73 jet settings . > > put the 132 mains in turn the idle screws all the way in then 2 1/2 turns > out and see how that goes soak the new mains in celly thinners for a while > and blow them thru with some air before you fit them! I will give that a go today and over the next week or so I should get a better idea if its helping. Should I change the air correction jets too to make a matched pairing? I reckon if I could lean up the idle without leaning up the main jetting, that would surely improve the consumption. > this will improve the situation im sure vw where under presure to make these > engines cleaner by 73 and i think they did this at the expense of power a > little. > > good luck.
