It was because you (Jim) asked what was early and what was late, and I came in here to say that late may not be late anyways. On 24 Apr 2003 at 15:44, Toby Erkson wrote:
Oh, you guys are talking about the rear seat BACK latches...I was talking about the rear seat BOTTOM latch.
Right. At this point I've forgotten how it was that we strayed over there.
On my '72 my rear seat back has a latch located at the far upper corner of the seat back. They're quite sturdy and I would trust them to hold back a load or two.
Both upper corners, right? Yes, that was for 72-3 only and is very sturdy, but it clutters up the lines in the interior somewhat.
As mentioned, M299 for USA and Sweden.
Once again, that is a part of M299, as my 73 doesnt have a latch to hold the bottom down either. Cant see why there is a use for this latch either, and I bet that any 72-73 Variant owner outside of USA (and Karl-Olov in Sweden) doesnt have any latches on their rear seats.
My rear seat bottom has a single latch located in the rear, center of the seat. There's a metal hook welded to the center tunnel and that hook goes inside the seat bottom and it holds the bottom down.
Yes, that is the late seat bottom latch, used in 72-3 in some markets only. Up thru 71 there was never any kind of lower seat latch, except for the last month of 71, which got it a bit early.
