Re: [T3] One Week 'Till Portland..

What concert are you going to??

I lived off of Powell and 53rd for 8 or so years. Not a huge selection of
cool places to eat except for DiNicola's (OK Italian). If you want something
really different, since you're in the Asian/Russian/Romanian section of
Portland, there are many Vietnamese places. One funky place on Foster just
East of 39th on 50th take a right and up on 60th or so is a restaurant
called Russia House. Interesting food there. Typical fast food junk
otherwise. KFC, Taco Bell, Burgerville, McDonalds, Wendy's...

But, if you head North or South on SE 39th, you can hit the Woodstock area
(South on SE 39th and (L) East on Woodstock. Lots of good places to eat.
There's a german deli that is excellent, man, wish I could remember the
name. If you want a funky place to eat with unbelievable food, check out the
Delta on Woodstock (is it still there??).

If you head North on SE 39th, drive past Division, and (L) West on Hawthorne
for some great restaurants. One of my kids favorite is Taco Del Mar. It's a
fun street to hang out on. Tough to find parking, you may be better off
taking the bus. Not sure what line runs down SE 39th, but it's a short ride.
Busses run every 10 min. or so.

Junkyards? The only one that has some Type 3 stuff (and they always want a
fortune for it) is German Auto Salvage in Boring, Oregon. It's about 15 to
20 miles from where you're at.

A cool place to check out is Always VDub which moved a few years back to SE
50th, just South of Hawthorne. They have some cool stuff to look at in their
"showroom". Pretty nice guys too.

Are you driving up from Cali? If so, and you need a rest stop in So. Oregon,
shoot me an email!
