my 1.7 out of 914, then later removed from a 74 bus, by me.. still has it's flex plate bolted to it. the guy i sold the auto tranny to was impossible to get in touch with to get it to him, or he wasn't interested....i won't be needing it, so .. what's it worth? i'm thinking about stripping the engine down to the long block and getting rid of the things i don't need or want, if i can't find anyone who wants the whole schmeal. another question.. is a 1.7 really more trouble than it's worth? it would seem to me that if it runs well and is taken care of it would last as long as any other, and yet be at least a little better than a 1600. but if they really are more hassle than they are worth than the best thing to do with a used one would be? sell parts of it to people who have one in working service?? just curious...(and i really hate to pack around crap if it isn't going to be of any use to me in the future) thanks, m. >>One other problem: T4 flexplates (from late automatic busses and 411/412's only) don't exactly grow on trees, and neither do the special bolts that are needed to bolt it to the crank. They aren't _impossible_ to find, but take a little work. ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
