<x-charset iso-8859-1>Hello- > Just goes to > show, that in most cases, you just can't beat genuine > Bosch quality. "New" does not always mean quality. Aye, most, but not all. I bought a brand new T4 alternator and brand new T4 regulator, genuine Bosch, made in Spain. This is over a $200 waste of cash. They lasted about 2500mi before dying - both of them. Luckily, I was at a car show at the time, and bought an old junk (but genuine Bosch :-) alternator and regulator for $35. I installed them, and all was fine. Recently, I replaced the alternator with an old, junk 70A alternator (the optional HD option for the bus), and it worked even better. The old, German regulator finally crapped out on me, but it lasted far longer than the new Spanish one. (charging at 16V won't trip on the alt light, but it will make your battery VERY hot... very scary). I replaced it with an old, Brazilian regulator. It's lasted longer than the old, old German one and the new Spanish one put together. Go figure :-).
