Most of the aftermarket oil thermostats operate around 180-190F, but I
have spoken to quite a few individuals who have raced and they have told
me they try to keep the 210-220F you mentioned above. I read somewhere
or was told by a rep from Royal Purple (synthetic oil manufacturer) that
the best protection was achieved around that 210-220F target, but don't
quote me on that one J
