<x-charset iso-8859-1>Hello there- >I guess I was more curious about a suggested oil temp for our engines >(which you did answer). I realize it depends on oil used, but I hear >from alot of people trying to keep oil temps below 180ºF. This seems >to cold to me. All of my Audis have come from the factory with oil >temp guages and they run consistently at 210-220ºF. Ofcourse, it also >depends on where the reading is taken. What is the best location to >read oil temp that matters? Most of the aftermarket oil thermostats operate around 180-190F, but I have spoken to quite a few individuals who have raced and they have told me they try to keep the 210-220F you mentioned above. I read somewhere or was told by a rep from Royal Purple (synthetic oil manufacturer) that the best protection was achieved around that 210-220F target, but don't quote me on that one J Take care, Charles Navarro LN Engineering http://www.LNengineering.com Aircooled Precision Performance ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/ </x-charset>
