The photo John posted was of 2 separate parts: the standard Bosch brown 
bakelite connector and the red silicone rubber moisture seal that can be 
slipped over the end. The part # for the latter is 311 905 444A.

These extra boots came std on all type 3s (at least those in the US) from 
about 70 on, and can be retrofitted to any car that uses the standard Bosch 
SP connectors.
