<x-charset iso-8859-1>I've seen advice that tells you to remove almost anything electrical from a
car, and even the wheel bearings before electrical welding!

However I've never bothered to take anything out apart from the battery if
I'm working near.  I just earth close to the welding point and reckon not
much current will flow anywhere else than between the weld area and the
welder circuit.  I guess if the area near the regulator was being welded, it
might have upset it.

Don't strike arcs near the battery though or it could explode from the gases
igniting.
