Re: [T3] HELP!

Maybe I found something. I pulled the 3/4 manifold off this morning for a
look. There appeared to be some blow-by/suck-in under the outer edge of the
manifold. Not positive, but maybe. You can see a picture here.

Also, the manifold gasket that I used is metal and has a small hole inside
of the sealing surface. This is the same maifold gasket as shown in the
Haynes manual. There is a picture of it here.

I had the gasket installed as shown in above and in the picture below. This
is the way it is installed in the Haynes manual as well. With the manifolds
I have it looks like I have a direct air leak into the head through this
hole due to the divot in the manifold between the two ports. See picture
below. The sealing ridge in the gasket spans this divot if the gasket is
flipped around, btw. So not sure how effective they would be even that way.

To add to the problem, it doesn't look like my manifold mating surface was
flat. See picture below. This was taken after briefly surfacing it on a
plate of 1/4 inch glass. I have since gotten the surface flat by continung
to work it.

I am going to pull the other manifold and check it to see where how I
oriented the gasket. I did reuse the old gaskets, btw. Could be part of
the problem. My bad, I know.

MY QUESTIONS: Are these the proper gaskets and/or manifolds? If so what
isthe proper orientation of the gasket? Anything anyone would do different?
 Other suggestions?

BTW, thanks for all the suggestions. In reply to some of them. The
receeding valve was actually on #2 not this bank. I only pulled the head on
this side and had a peak. Nothing else. It was sealing well and the colors
of the plugs and valves all looked good. I have swapped the electromagnetic
shut-offs from side to side and can hear the click of the shut-off when I
touch the wire to it, so i have power to it and it appears to be working.

Thanks for listening and helping.
