I know the type 3 pump spec is higher, really 5 psi, but I really don't think it will make ANY difference. The carb only cares about the level in the bowl, and the bowl will fill until the float valve shuts it off. 1.5 psi against the area of the float valve won't make any discernable difference. The delivery capacitys of the two pumps are the same, according to Service Without Guesswork.
