Re: [T3] strange knocking going uphill under load

<x-flowed>My guess is a bad CV Joint. Slide under the car, grap the axle shaft with one hand and twist it back and forth. If there's any noticeable play, the joint is shot. It might help to get some fresh grease in there, but only as a short term solution.

This strange problem developed recently with my '70 Fastback (automatic)... when I'm going uphill under a full load (crap in car with passenger), a strange knocking starts to come from the read axle (sounds like the left hand wheel well). If I let up on the gas, slow up and then resume, the knocking will sometimes go away. This ONLY happens when going uphill under full load.

FYI- the hills I'm speaking about are extreme - I live in San Francisco and the grades are in excess of 20%.

Thanks!
