[T3] strange knocking going uphill under load

<x-flowed>This strange problem developed recently with my '70 Fastback 
(automatic)... when I'm going uphill under a full load (crap in car 
with passenger), a strange knocking starts to come from the read axle 
(sounds like the left hand wheel well).  If I let up on the gas, slow 
up and then resume, the knocking will sometimes go away.  This ONLY 
happens when going uphill under full load.

FYI- the hills I'm speaking about are extreme - I live in San 
Francisco and the grades are in excess of 20%.
