Thats a good thought but, the engine starts blowing oil after @ 2-3 minutes of running and it gets progressively worse. Those first 2-3 mins are perfectly dry. I'd think that if it were the residual blowing out, that it would be from the very beginning.

No, I am not. the write up Jim Adney sent me states clearly not to use spacers on the late coolers. Also, by looking at the new seals and the old ones with their flanges compressed to 1/3 of the original, I see still no symptoms of the passages being choked closed. Having said that, I will go back tomorrow and slacken the nuts a bit and see what happens.

Interestingly enough, my neighbor haooked me up on the phone with a work colleague who "builds vw engines". The conversation was very educational, as when I mentioned to him that the only thing I did was replace the oil cooler seals and the pressure plate. He said, I'll bet you installed a wrong pressure plate that is a bit higher than the original one. This could cause the end play to go in one direction towards the rear and thereby slacken the rear engine oil seal/washer and causing the leak.
I must say That I never considered this possiblity. I also know that my pressure plate and throw out bearing did not look anything like the ones shown in Bentley. What do you all think of the plausibility of this theory.
Am slowly regaining hope!
Thanks for any thoughts
