[T3] Too many rear-enders

Is it my imagination or have we been hearing about a lot of rear-end
collisions lately, with the Type 3 getting it in the end? I wonder whether
the huge brake lights of recent cars are making us even harder to see in the
dark. How many of us are using a third tail or brake light? Any ideas on
whether it makes an important difference?

For myself, the Ghia has a Porsche rear foglamp that's usually on at night.
