The bosses that these threads are in are already pretty thin. In a real emergency you might be able to get away with a Heli-coil, but even that seems risky once you look at it. If you have the case apart you can see how deep you can drill this hole, then tap it all the way to the bottom and use longer bolts. Last time I did this I think I checked the clearance to the inside of the case and figured I had lots, then I discovered that the hole I drilled broke thru the OUTSIDE of the case.
