<x-charset Windows-1252>Why not use a threaded insert? I'd suggest you get a kit from Time Fastener: http://www.timesert.com/ Really easy to use and good for other applications like the threaded holes on the cylinder heads where the sheet metal is fastened. I have used the M8 kits for repairing exhaust studs with excellent results. Thomas -----Original Message----- From: type3@vwtype3.org Subject: [T3] Another quick question... Replying to Freddie's question made me think of one of my own. Does anyone know if the shroud mounting holes on the case can be successfully drilled-and-tapped to 8mm? The threads are pretty trashed, and the "tap it deeper and use longer bolts w/locktite" trick I've heard here didn't seem to help much. Stupid GEX crap...but hey, at least I don't have to *rely* on the engine. =) ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/ </x-charset>
