The engine won't run hotter but it certainly will lose some power.  Those are
simply small and reduce the available surface area (uhg, coffee not in veins,
can't think of better word) for incoming air.  The only 'advantage' would be
to use them because there's something on the engine that would get in the way
of the stock system.
