If I increase or decrease the speed it drives fine. My 71 did something like this at the same speed. It seemed like it was just kind of bouncing back and forth on the combined backlash of everything in the drive train. I never actually cured it, but it seemed like everything I did helped a little bit. The biggest improvement came with going over the CV joints and replacing all the loose ones with tighter ones. I even rebuilt the tranny in the hope that tightening up the 3rd gear on its shaft (it has some axial play, constrained with a spring) might also help; it did, but only a tiny bit. I worked over the FI, too. But I don't think I ever noticed any improvement from that area. I believe yours is carbed, right? I don't think I've ever heard of another one that did this, and perhaps your symptoms are actually different, but this makes me wonder if there was some kind of resonance at work here. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
