It remains possible that they have it wrong however since many shops don't realize that the type 3 needs to be done differently from a beetle. Reconnect hoses, adjust idle again. Correct? Just do this much: Pull the hoses, adjust idle, set timing to 5 BTDC. Reconnect hoses, adjust idle again. There's no need to plug anything.
