I suspect that there are some internal connections in your complicated 67 flasher relay that are not as good as they used to be, and they also change with temp (differential thermal expansion from different metals.) The solution MAY be to open up that box carefully and find all the places in there where they have crossed 2 bus bars and rivited them together to make an electrical connection. Then I would take a small soldering iron, some NoKorode flux and some electrical solder and actually solder all these connections. You have to be VERY CAREFUL doing this because there will be plastic parts nearby which will melt if you take too long, and in some cases this will ruin the relay. If you're not already good at this sort of thing, this is NOT the place to learn. I believe these relays are irreplaceable. I fixed my 69 relay this way. It is a lot simpler than the 66-7 style, but it was still tough to do. Another possiblility is that the relay box has some dead capacitors in it that need to be replaced. Or my 68 had a capacitor which had one lead come disconnected. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
