<x-charset iso-8859-1>I just did this, and managed to tear a bit off the bottom of the pads. It's not too bad, and I think if you're a little more careful than me, things should work out well. Just in case I couldn't use them again, I asked at the VW shop where I "work/volunteer" if they could recommend a replacement. They suggested that I could try soundproofing material that stereo installers use, but I haven't tested this to see how effective it is. Just a few cents worth. The pan on my '70 is rusted through on the rear passenger side, and tonight I'm going to start the restoration with some serious sanding and cutting. I suppose since I can't find sections of floor pan new that I'll just use a piece of sheet metal of near the same width, unless I can salvage a like sized portion from a bug pan. Oh joy.
