<x-charset iso-8859-1>they are not "junk", but they cannot be returned to a quench chamber design. However, they are enough in demand you can probably get top dollar for them, especially on ebay. There are some guys that will use nothing but semi-hemi heads on the upright engine for street use. I don't use them (I used to) and in fact do some stuff that's "impossible" and have had great success with it. My latest projects are 11:1 2443 and BOOST on pump gas (don't laugh, one friend of mine is 11:1 and 24psi on pump gas), 13.5:1 2332 aspirated on pump gas, and 11:1 1914 on pump gas. I must be doing something right. Don't try this with flattop pistons! Also, these engines utilize deck heights in the .020-.030" range. Notice this is significantly less then the .100"+ that some people are having detonation problems with, and "solving" by resorting to SH heads. I suppose there is a benefit to this, if they ran out of fuel they could piss in the tank to get home. :-D John Aircooled.Net Inc. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thomas Ainlay" <tainlay@sbcglobal.net> To: <type3@vwtype3.org> Sent: Wednesday, June 19, 2002 11:36 AM Subject: Re: [T3] Compression Ratio Recommendations > Hmm, if someone had a pair of Semi-Hemi cut heads could they be reworked > back to stock or are they junk? > > Thomas > > -----Original Message----- > From: type3@vwtype3.org > Subject: Re: [T3] Compression Ratio Recommendations > > > Hello- > > I forgot a couple things in my previous post... sorry... read that first, > otherwise this won't make too much sense. > > > ------------------------------------------------ > To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> > For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/ > ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/ </x-charset>
