<x-charset iso-8859-1>After a 4 mile journey today, I checked my idle mixture settings on my carbs and was a bit worried about the heat in the engine compartment. The air filter was very warm (40 odd deg C). I went and fetched my IR thermometer and checked the crankcase temp below the air cleaner and it measured 74 degC- too hot to touch. Now the ambient temperature is about 26 deg, but this seems too hot- a lot hotter than I remember it being a couple of months back. Is this anything to worry about or is it normal for summer temps? The carbs seemed set OK, but I'm going to replace them tommorrow with the ones I've just finished rebuilding. The other thing I've noticed is that I usually have to stop and wait at a junction which is on quite a steep incline on my way to work, and very often she boggs down and nearly stalls when I finally get to go again. Only seems to happen on this incline so its not too much of a problem but I'm wondering if this is a symptom of overheating or a carb flooding problem?
