I promised Mike I'd find him a better temp sensor to try, so sunday I gathered together all the ones I could find and measured them. I had never done this systematically before; I simply assumed that they were fine as long as they were neither shorted nor open. I was surprised at what I found. I find that I seem to have temp sensors that are of 3 distince resistance ranges: 700-1000 Ohms 2200-2500 Ohms ~3000 Ohms The literature says that they should measure 2000-3000 Ohms at 68F, so the last 2 groups probably fit in here okay. I did these measurements in my basement which probably just about that temp right now. Russ, do you remember how many Ohms the little add-on resistor was that you could add in-line to the standard part? I also looked at the part #s stamped on each sensor. In most cases I was able to read enough to verify that these were really the right sensors for our cars, but the numbers (Bosch & VW) don't seem to match up quite right. Mike, I'll get an assortment of parts mailed out to you tomorrow. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
