Otherwise it will lie to you. If the ATF level is good, then the only thing left, that is easy to get to, is the vacuum modulator. This needs to be adjusted any time it is replaced.. Instructions are in the Lubrication & Maintenance chapter of the Bentley. You can just do this by where the shift points are; does it seem to shift at too high or too low a speed? If so, you can move the shift points up or down with this adjustment.
