James, I remember reading a bit about LPG conversions of air-cooled engines -- a difficulty seemed to be that LPG conversions on water-cooled cars rely on the liquid coolant to do some sort of preheating. Ah, Google turns up the following: (http://f23.parsimony.net/forum51699/messages/90.htm) ''There is one particular problem with the VW engine that makes it a little more complicated than with water cooled cars. Normally the water cooling is used to warm the LPG vapour as it vapourises from liquid to gas before feeding it to the engine. In an aircooled car, another method has to be used to supply this heat. There are three methods I'm aware of with aircooled VWs...'' This may also be of interest: http://www.wps.com/LPG/index.html I haven't ever researched the topic, but I only seem to recall such conversions being discussed with carburetors as part of the system, not fuel injection. <shrug> Good luck! -Greg ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
